Naples: Michele-Luigi Muzio, 1723-24. Second augmented edition of this richly illustrated work on horses and duels. A fresh and crisp copy of this rare edition which only appeared at auction once since 1933. The first edition printed in 1711, which is also very rare, is recorded at auction 4 times since 2012 (RBH). Folio (237 x 225mm). Full-page portrait signed by Filippo de Grado, over 180 full-page engravings, woodcut headpieces and initials, "Aggiunta di Rime Diverse" bound between pages 466 and 467 as in the digitalized copy of Fondo Maestrini (without final blank, title with some small marginal tears and a small repair at top left corner, reinforced at inner margin as also leaves 3N1 and 3P4, some occasional light stains, heavier on 4G3, few occasional small holes, 2O2-2O3 partially detached at top end, but in good condition and still holding). Contemporary vellum, gilt spine label, red speckled edges (some chipping, heavier at spine ends, lightly stained). Provenance: some recent pencil annotations on flyleaves.
