DELAMARE, Nicolas (1639-1723) - Traité de la Police. Paris: Michel Brunet, Francois Herissant, 1713-1738. First work extensively dedicated to the Police and its functions with 10 topographic maps that show the evolution of Paris over the centuries. In order to complete the work, Delamare was provided with full and special access to the archives in Paris, to the Colbert's Library and at the end he was extrememly well remunaretad with the amount of 300.000 silver livres. 4 volumes, folio (398 x 245mm). Titles printed in red and black, engraved vignettes, headpieces, some illustrations in text, 10 douple page maps of which some folding (occasional browning and stains, Coffee(?) stain between leaf 3h4 and 3i4 of the fourth volume with some pages glued together). Contemporary calf with gilt titles and decorations, red speckled edges (light wear). (4)
