Two volumes of the extensive illustrated edition of fables, printed on fine handmade paper, the first volume printed in red. With 89 (of 108 engraved plates contained in these two volumes and 216 in the complete work). 3 tomes in 2 volumes only, 4to (294 x 208mm). The first vol. printed in red contains tom I with a double-page frontispiece in Italian and French, within an elaborate engraved border, 22 (of 36) engraved plates printed in red, engraved head-piece, woodcut initials and devices; tom II with a double-page frontispiece with double vignette printed in red and 31 (of 36) engraved plates printed in red, large headpiece at beginning. Text on double column in Italian and French (some light staining, repairs and early restoration to small tears). 19th-century red calf, title in gilt (some rubbing). Volume two contains tom III printed in black and complete with 36 engraved plates, large engraved vignette on title and engraved headpiece (some occasional staining).
