BOCCACCIO, Giovanni - Ameto. Venice: Nicolo Zoppino, 1524. A handsome volume of the Venetian Renaissance in a contemporary Venetian binding in red morocco. The Bullrich copy first owned by Major Bryan Palmes. 4 works in one volume, 8vo (154 x 105mm). Each work is complete: with the final blanks in the first two works, the first three works with title within elaborate woodcut border and the fourth with title in red and black with woodcut vignette with the portrait of the author, in general woodcut initials and woodcut vignettes at end (first work with title remargined at bottom with very minor loss just touching woodcut border, in general some occasional light stains). Contemporary Venetian red morocco with gilt title and decorations, panneled spine decorated in blind, remains of gilt on top edge (expertly rebacked, extremities lightly rubbed and tiny chip to top end of spine, spine lightly faded). Provenance: Major Bryan Palmes (book collector; bookplate) - Sigillum horacii domicis de Oxford (book label) - "Paid £2.8 for this work at Sotheby's 1895" (pencil inscription) - Eduardo J. Bullrich (1895-1951?; Argentinian book collector whos his library was sold in 1952; bookplate).
