Leeuwenhoek had observed the Protozoa previously but Joblot's is the earliest treatise on them". (DSB VII, 110). 2 parts in one volume, 4to (251 x 190mm). Half-titles, woodcut device on title and initials, 53 engraved folding plates (15, 14, 29). Contemporary marbled calf, gilt spine, red edges (lightly rubbed). The pagination corresponds to that in SBN but the collation of vol. I varies slightly.
