Prospectus complet of the 38 fine engravings made by the famous painter, engraver and architect Visentini, from drawings by Canaletto made at the home of British diplomat and patron Joseph Smith. Folio oblungo (343 x 506mm). Album of views of Venice in three parts, so distributed: plate-title, plate with portraits of Canaletto and Vicentini after Giovanni Battista Piazzetta, 14 pl. of the first part numbered in Roman numerals I-XIV already published in 1735 and re-proposed in this edition, 12 pl. of the second part numbered in Arabic numerals from 1 to 12, 12 pl. of the third part numbered in Roman numerals I-XII (the printed-title is missing and also two of the three plate-titles with portraits of the authors separating the different parts, a few folds, trace of transparent glue to the title, light spotting, some more evident at pl. XII part one, very small and rare cuts on the margins, early small repair at pl. II third part). Brown marbled cardboard, with spine and edges marbled green and red, rebinding in the modern era (rubbed especially at the edges, at the corners and at the spine, where there are breaks along the hinge). Provenance: labels on anterior endpaper, the first "W:W: Page Venice 8th October 1825 Fi 35/" (brown ink, light spotting) and the second "ex-libris Doct-Charles-Bois-de Chesne" scholar and Swiss writer who is also called Carlo Querceto (post the 1930s) numbered manuscript J426.
