First edition of this translation by Federico Commandino, mathematician and Italian humanist, and also one of the few books printed in Urbino during the XVI century. 4to (290 x 200mm). Guilloche decoration on title, text within double woodcut border, figurative woodcut initials, numerous geometrical figures (ink stains, waterstaining, spotting and browning, wormholes at the margin until quire F). Later vellum, calf label with author, sprinkled red edges now discolored (lightly rubbed, panels lightly bowed).
