PARE' Ambroise (1510-1590) - Opera Ambrosii Parei. Paris: Du Puys, 1582. First Latin edition of the works of Parè considered the father of modern surgery. The important work is enriched in this edition with numerous illustrastions depicing monsters, mithological creatures and deformities. Folio (358 x 220mm). Vignette on title, portrait of the author at the end of the dedication, headpieces and initials in wood, numerous text illustrations, some full-page (title with some small wormholes, two 20th-century private stamps then occasionally repeated in text, some browning and spotting, waterstaining to final index leaves). Contemporary vellum over wooden boards with ties, spine with (later?) reinforced vellum.
