SAN GIROLAMO (347-420 d.C.) - In vitas patrum percelebre opus. Lyon: Mareschal, 1520. A good work in a fascinating contemporary binding. (245 x 175mm). Title within woodcut border, full-page woodcut of Saint Jerome, numerours illustrations and historiated initials, rubricated in red, some early annotation (few occasional stains, minor losses to corners of title). Contemporary blindstamp calf over wooden boards, the front cover contains small stamps in a panel of Fleur de Lys, Lion, Griffin and Dove, with the letters "H.C." at the bottom. The back cover divided geometrically contains the Tudor Rose, grotesque winged fingers, and 4 designs of a heart, two hands and two feet surmonounted by 3 swords and a spear on the right; one design contains the letter "iobs". Spine in different leather with title manuscripted on red ink, parts of metal clasps (lacking one clasp, light rubbing to extremities and joints).
