Half-title, title in red and black with printer's device, engraved portrait of the author and 7 engraved plates, numeours engraved illustrations, woodcut headpieces and initials (some waterstaining, browning and spotting, wormtrack to bottom inner margin of pp. 505-563 not causing any text loss). Later quarter calf over marbled boards, spine decorated in gilt with red leather label (lightly rubbed). Provenance: Libreria Cascianelli, Roma (bookseller's ticket).
