Lyon: Vincent, 1582.   A later edition in a fine modern binding of this classic work on engineering considered to be the first modern "teatro di macchine". Jacques Besson was nominated "Maitre des machines du roi" and is remembered for his impossible mechanisms and for having strongly improved the system of the water mill.   Folio (450 x 270mm). Title within allegorical border, 60 illustrations (washed, a3 repeated, small restoration to top margin of b2, k1 with printing error). Dark morocco signed by Lobstein-Laurenchet with gilt title on spine, gilt edges, marbled endpapers (small defect to spine near title).
