Work on the publication probably began around 1728 and stopped only two hundred years later, when the author of the third series died in 1928, leaving his work unfinished. "The most important work on Dutch lepidoptera" (Landwehr).   7 parts 3 volumes, 4to (252 x 194mm). Engraved handcoloured frontispiece in each volume, woodcut device on title of each part and general titles to each volume, priviledge, 50 engraved plates with contemporary handcolouring in each volume for a total of 150 (occasional light browning to margins). Contemporary half calf, uncut (rebacked preserving old spine). Provenance: Vittorio Arioli (bookplate). It is just part of the work and it sold as a collection of plates not subject to return.
