BOEZIO, Severino (ca. 480-526 ) - De consolatione philosophia. Florence: Filippo dei Giunti, 1513.   Early Giuntine edition of Boethius' masterpiece and one of the most influential works of the Middle Ages. A philosophical treatise on fortune, death and divine, in which the author has a dialogue with Philosophy, whom is personified as a woman.   8vo (150 x 92mm). Initials coloured in red ink (some foxing and staining). Modern vellum titled in manuscript on front cover and spine, blue edges, author in red ink on front flyleaf, preserved in a modern marbled paper case. Provenance: early ownership inscriptions on title - Julia Bertolini (ownership inscription) - Gonneli (bookseller's ticket).
