[I CLASSICI DEL RIDERE] - La collezione completa di questa ardita impresa editoriale. Modena: Formiggini, 1913-1938. The publisher Formiggini collected the works of the classics of every culture and century, which had some connection with laughter. The collection is therefore made up of Italian and foreign classics, ancient, modern and contemporary; from Aesop, Luciano di Samostata, Apuleio, Plauto and Ovidio passing through Boccaccio, Guicciardini, Machiavelli, Giordano Bruno up to Bergerac, Voltaire, Wilde, Balzac, Rabelais, Diderot, Hugo and many others. In excellent condition, each in printed editorial wrappers. 108 volumes, 8vo (210 x 125mm). The renowned series, since its design in 1912, is the main achievement of the Modenese publisher. One of the main features is the presence in each text of numerous woodcuts, commissioned to the major engravers of the time: De Carolis, Mantelli and G. Doré to name a few. The Series consists of 105 issues published from 1913 to 1938 (No. 2 is in third edition). The copy here present also includes no. 00 "La ficozza filosofica del Fascismo" (in second edition) and the last two issues 106 and 107 printed in Milan by Bietti. Genoa-Rome: Formiggini Editore, 1913-1938. (107)
