TORRE, Carlo (1609 ca.-1679) - Il ritratto di Milano, diviso in tre libri, colorito da Carlo Torre. Milan: Federico Agnelli, 1674 ma con data cambiata in 1714?. Second? extra-illustrated edition of this famous volume on Milan that inaugurates the tradition of Milanese tourist and cultural walks, in which the author guides the reader paying close attention to the monuments and works of art described. The collation of the edition does not correspond to that of 1674 (the text is recomposed and ends in fact with 2D6 and with p. 393 with the caption "Fine dell'Orientale, and ultima Porta" followed by 11pp. of table with atend "Fine della Tavola del Ritratto di Milano"), nor to that of 1714. The signature is as follows: [✝] ⁴ 2✝⁴ A-3C4, 3D6 . 4to (207 x 164mm). Allegorical frontispiece by Antonio Busca, Plan of the Castle of Milan, 7 folded tables based on a design by Giuseppe Garavaglia, Andrea and Filippo Biffi, Benedetto Quarantino and Giovanni Ghisolfi, all engraved by the Agnelli, three other tables inserted, two of which from the period: "Pianta del Duomo di Milano" e "Facciata della Chiesa Metropolitana. detta il Duomo di Milano" and a plan of Milan from a later period: Plan de la Ville de Milan printed by Artaria, headpieces and woodcut initials (margin of the title and of the frontispiece repaired with small loss, some foxing). Modern vellum, title on spine label, decorated paper case.
