CICERONE, Marco Tullio (106 A.C.-43 A.C.) - Orationes, cum doctorum omnium. Paris: Jean de Roigny, 1536. A classic of Latin oratory art, Cicero's Orationes are gathered here in a single volume and commented on by Quintus Asconius Pedianus, Francois Dubois, Bartholomeus Latomus, Philipp Melanchton, Jakob Omphalius and Joannes Tislinus . Folio (326 x 217mm). Title within architectural border with printer's device, numerous numbering and signature errors, blank spaces for initials with guide letters, with final blank (wormtrack to lower margin from 2R6 to 2&2 without text loss, some occasional staining). Modern vellum, modern manuscript title on spine and earlier title on lower edge, ties (light spotting); preserved in a modern marbled paper box. Provenance: numerous annotations at the end of the volume and occasional notes in text - early ownership note on title.
