Copy annotated at the beginning of the text of the third edition of this important work about the history of Milan, which appeared for the first time in 1503 (see lot 5). 4to (214 x 154mm). Title with printer's device depicting an elephant with a tower on its back with motto "Tarde sed tuto", initials and woodcut headpieces (some soiling and dampstainig, occasional spotting and staining, minimal restoration at the bottom corner of the final leaves). 18th-century vellum with title on spine label (re-stitched); preserved in a modern decorated paper box, with a modern facsimile portrait inserted at the beginning of the work. Provenance: Francesco Maria Conti (ownership inscription on title) - numerous early annotations at the beginning of the text.
