Rare Aldine edition of this renowned Ciceronian text commented by Macrobius. This edition is illustrated by some diagrams in the text, thus conforming to the precepts of Macrobius who recommended the use of images to convey knowledge, and by a globe depicting the Neoplatonic knowledge that divided the world into 5 distinct climatic zones. 8vo (165 x 100mm). Aldine printer's device on title and on the verso of the final leaf, several woodcut illustrations in text and a map of the terrestrial globe on K5 (some light and occasional browning, few leaves detached).
