MORENA, Ottone e Acerbo (XII secolo) - Historia rerum Laudensium. Venice: Marco Ginammi, 1639. A work by Ottone and Acerbo Morena considered among the first chroniclers and remembered for having narrated the Italian events of the 12th-century from a Lombard point of view. The chronicle of Lodi is of particular interest for the descriptions of the characters of the time including that of Federico Barbarossa and is considered the main source for the Lombard history of that time. 4to (225 x 160mm). Woodcut arms on title, headpices and initials (gathering R browned, some soiling). Contemporary speckled calf, spine decorated in gilt, red speckled edges (some scuffing and wormholes). [TOGETHER WITH - VISCONTI BINDING]. Tritonis Buccina. Milan: Ramellati, 1682. 4to (220 x 162mm). Frontispiece engraved by Simone Durello, woodcut vignette on title, headpieces and initials (occasional light foxing). Contemporary calf elaborately decorated in gilt with Visconti arms in the center (rebacked preserving part of the original binding, some wear).
