Aubusson carpet, France, late 18th century. Wool fabric with tapestry technique. Floral decoration on a tobacco colour field consisting of a round medallion with a roses bouquet surrounded by a laurel wreath and a large garland of flowers of various species. On the two sides of the medallion two volutes with acanthus leaves hold two woven baskets filled with flowers of various types. The decoration of the field is completed by some ramage with leaves, flowers and acanthus leaves. Internal border, imitating the golden frames of the time, surrounded by daisies in sequence. The main border, with green background, has flowery branches with meandro pattern composed of numerous species of flowers (cm 482x468) (Defects and small old restorations)
