[FOSCOLO, Ugo (1778-1827)] - Francesco PETRARCA (1304-1374) - Il Petrarca novissimamente revisto e corretto da messer Lodovico Dolce. Venice: Gabriel Giolito de Ferrari et fratelli, 1554. Foscolo's own copy of this Petrarch with his inscription dated 1813. The inscription dates from Foscolo's time in Florence during which he composed part of his renown Carme delle Grazie. Some years later, between 1820 and 1824, Foscolo published his works on Petrarch. 8vo (151 x 93mm). Woodcut device on title and at end, woodcut initials and decorations, the collation is *8, 2*6 (with correct catchword and continuos text even if in SBN there is 2*8), A-2B8, *-8*8, [leaf]-3[leaf]8, 4[leaf]4 (lacking geographical map depicting Valchiusa between 2*4verso-2*5recto, small wormhole repaired in bottom margin). Calf, gilt edges (defects). Provenance: Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827; inscription dated Florence 1813).
