[CONCILIATORE] - Il Conciliatore foglio scientifico-letterario. Milan: Vincenzo Ferrario, 1818-19.   A collection of 116 issues of the Conciliator, the famous romantic and liberal newspaper. Among the collaborators are Silvio Pellico, Giovanni Berchet, Adeodato Ressi, Ludovico di Breme, Sismondi and many others financed by Luigi Porro Lambertenghi and Federico Confalonieri. The goal was to create a newspaper that gave space to modern ideas in all fields of knowledge which was not entirely appreciated by the Austrian censorship. The conciliator's experience ended on October 17, 1819 when pressure from the Austrian police on Pellico prompted the editorial staff to suspend publications and dissolve the company.   (380 x 345mm). 116 loose issues from 3 September 1818 to Sunday 2 October 1819 (117-118 missing) printed on blue paper, 5 cent Austrian stamp on each number. Uncut copies (some light spotting). [WITH:] Autograph letter from Luigi Porro Lambertenghi to the Marquis Trivulzio of 18 October 1820 in which he speaks of the recent arrest of Pellico (which took place on 13 October).
