[ERESIA] - BRUCIOLI, Antonio Brucioli (1498-1566) - Il Nuovo Testamento. Lyon: Guglielmo Rouillio, 1553.   A copy with good provenance and in good conditions of the renowned Italian translation of the Bible by Antonio Brucioli. This version by the Italian humanist was first published in 1532, but thereafter added to the Index in 1559 when Brucioli was persecuted as an heretic by the Venetian inquisition.   2 parts in 2 volumes, 16mo (120 x 78mm). Woodcut device on title, numerous large woodcuts and historiated initials (a few leaves restored at bottom margin without text loss, occasional light soiling and a few minor stains). A good copy in 18th-century calf decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers and red edges (very lightly rubbed with some minor losses). Provenance: Arthur Brölemann (1826-1904, exlibris dated 1879; German collector, grandson of Henry-Auguste Brölemann).
