CENTORIO DEGLI ORTENSI, Ascanio (XVI secolo) - Commentarii della Guerra di Transilvania.. Seconda parte de' commentari. Venice: Gabriel Giolito De' Ferrari, 1565-1568.   First editions of both parts of this work rare to be found complete market. The author was close to Giovanni Battista Castaldo, Marquis of Cassano and Count of Piadena, a famous captain of the time; it was thanks to this relationship that he had access to the information reported in the work.   2 parts in one volume, 4to (201 x 145mm). Printer's device on titles and at end, initials and woodcut headpieces (light browning and soiling, light occasional dampstaining, small marginal tear to frontispiece which probably removes an old inscription). 18th-century vellum, gilt spine, blue marbled edges (spine stained, some other minor defects). Provenance: some early annotations on final leaf and frontispiece.
