A famous Florentine heretic and humanist, Brucioli is remembered for the translation of the Bible into the vernacular placed on the index in 1559. Of Florentine origin, he spent part of his life in Venice where he opened a printing shop; he was then banished from the lagoon city in 1548 when he was convicted of heresy.   8vo (153 x 101mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut initials, with final blank (slight browning and spotting, slight darkening on title under the name of Brucioli). 18th-century vellum, manuscript title on spine (minimal wear).
