Venice: Lucantonio Giunta, 1507.   A fascinating missal from the early 16th-century elegantly printed in red and black by Lucantonio Giunta in Venice. Unfortunately lacking a leaf.   8vo (156 x 118mm). Woodcut vignette on title, text printed in red and black, numerous full-page woodcuts and pages within woodcut borders, fine historiated initials, some on a black background (lacking A1, waterstaining and occasional browning, sometimes slightly cropped at the outer margin). Contemporary calf elaborately decorated in gilt on panels and on blindstamped edges, marbled endpapers (restored, with later spine and endpapers), within case (some wear). Provenance: erased ownership inscription on title and note at end.
