[DANTE] - BENVENUTO DA IMOLA (1330-1388) - Comentum super Dantis comoediam. Florence: Barbera, 1887. An unopened copy of the first printed edition of the first organic commentary on Dante's Comedy, written between 1375 and 1380 in Ferrara. This is the first time that the comment has been published in its entirety; it was partially published in Muratori's "Excerpta" and in the Italian translation by Giovanni Tamburini in 1855-1856, a work however little appreciated at the time because it was considered not very faithful. 5 volumes, 4to (255 x 170mm). 2 photographic plates depicting Imola and Benvenuto's house in the first volume, unopened (spotting, slight browning). Printed editorial wrappers (defects and restorations mainly to spine). (5)
