TURGENEV, Ivan Sergeevič (1818-1883) - Lettera autografa datata 25 Maggio 1875. An interesting manuscript letter from Turgenev who from Paris replies to a letter dated 22 May telling his receiver that he does not know if "Home of the Gentyr" and "Fathers and Sons" have been translated into Italian while "Smoke" appeared in a magazine. He therefore suggests translating either "Asya" or "First love". From OPAC it appears that Bettini, a publisher in Florence, published the translation of both with the title "The first love and Hesse. Two stories by Ivan Turghéneff" edited by Edoardo Zucchelli in 1876. It is therefore highly probable that the receiver of the letter is Zucchelli himself and that the suggestion of the Russian writer expressed here was "taken literally" by the translator. The letter is an interesting testimony of the literary relationship between Italy and Russia at the end of the 19th century. (206 x 134mm). Light writing, sepia ink on embossed paper with the initials of the writer "I.T." The text is as follows: "Monsieur En réponse a votre lettre du 22 Mai, je me hate de vous faire savoir qu'au tant que j'en ai connaissance, ni“ Дворянское гнездо ”ni“ Отцы и дети ”n'ont été traduits en italien. "Дым" a paru dans la "Vers [???]" en feuilletés, à ce que l'on ma dit: moi meme je ne l'ai pas vu. Votre choix pourrait peut être se porter [also ] sur "Ася" ou sur "Первая любовь". Je [???] de tout coeur, monsieur, que cette fois ci votre peine ne soit pas perdue et vous pris de recevoir l'expression des meilleurs sentiments de votre devoué serviteur, Ivan ".
