PORCACCHI, Tommaso (1530-1576) - L'isole piu famose del mondo. Venice: Giorgio Angelieri per gli eredi di Simon Galignani de Karera, 1590. A rare edition with 17 additional maps of the famous Porcacchi atlas which depicts the world as a set of islands. The 47 illustrations are engraved by Giacomo Porro and focus mainly on the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea without neglecting the New World and the East. Folio (298 x 200mm). Engraved title within architectural frame, 47 engraved vignettes depicting maps, initials, headpieces and tailpieces (restoration with traces of humidity still visible on the lower inner margin limited to the final few centimeters with small integrations and occasional small tears, lightly browned and some foxing, mainly on the first pages). 18th-century vellum with gilt title on spine, modern endpapers, blue edges (remounted with a good intervention, some staining on spine and covers).
