PULCI, Luigi (1432-1484) - Morgante maggiore. Venice: Comin de Trino di Monferrato, 1550.   A fine copy in green morocco of this book considered one of the best examples of comic style in Renaissance literature.   4to (212 x 150mm). Woodcut portrait of the author on title within an elaborate frame with cherubs, woodcuts at the beginning of each canto and initials (without final blank, light occasional spotting and minor staining, somewhat washed). 19th-century elegant green morocco signed Thompson, double border formed by triple fillets and gilt decorations on covers, gilt spine and inlays, gilt and marbled edged, marbled endpapers (minimal rubbing to joints). Provenance: Bibliotheca grimbergensis (ownership inscription on title) - W.V. (bookplate with monogram and motto) - bookseller's label removed on the front endpaper.
