Woodcut title with text printed within architectural border and portrait of Ariosto within an oval between allegorical figures, 51 full-page woodcuts at the opening of each Canto, probably by Dosso Dossi, woodcut initials and headpieces, with final blank (some soiling, sporadic staining and light occasional browning). Contemporary Venetian red calf decorated in gilt and blindstamped on covers, spine in 5 compartments with gilt decorations, elegant blindstamped edges (front joint weak, spine ends restored).
