[BUCER, Martin (1491-1551)] - Sacrorum Psalmorum libri quinque, ad Ebraicam ueritatem genuina uersione in Latinum traducti. Strasbourg: Georg Ulricher, 1532. An anciently annotated copy of this text from the first half of the 16th-century which is difficult to find on the market. Martin Bucer was an Alsatian theologian and Protestant reformer at the origin of Protestant confirmation who in 1529 published, under the name of Aretius Felinus to avoid the Inquisition, a Commentary on the Psalms. Folio (304 x 202mm). Woodcut vignette on title and at end, woodcut initials (browning, humidity and stains, traces of woodworm on the lower margin and serious damage caused by damp in the second half, mainly in the lower margin not touching text). Contemporary blindstamped calf (rebacked, new endpapers, restorations and wear). Provenance: some contemporary and early 17th-century inscriptions - Petri Crassi Taurinalpini Lucernensis (ownership inscription on title) - small circular stamp with coat of arms on the front flyleaf - Scati di Casaleggio Library (bookplate).
