LANDINO, Cristoforo (1424-1498) - Christophori Landini Florentini Libri quattuor primus. Strasbourg: Mathias Schürerius, 1508.   A good copy with some contemporary annotations. "Between 1472 and 1473 Cristoforo Landino wrote his masterpiece: the Disputationes camaldulenses, a dialogue in four books in which he imagines the meeting of the author and some famous personalities of the time (including Lorenzo and Giuliano de 'Medici, Leon Battista Alberti, Alamanno Rinuccini, Piero and Donato Acciaioli, Marsilio Ficino) in a monastery. The main characters face an articulated debate on the relationship between active life and contemplative life, a theme of Neoplatonic inspiration dear to the humanists" (from Ficino's biography of Palazzo Medici Riccardi). The first edition of the "Disputationes" dates back to 1480.   4to (278 x 200mm). With final blank (some reinforcements at inner margin, occasional spotting and foxing).
