Ambrogio Maggiore, 1783-93.   A collection of the Proceedings of the Patriotic Society of Milan, established by decree of Maria Theresa of Austria on 2 December 1776, whose purpose was to promote the progress of agricultural and manufacturing science. Agricultural studies are of particular interest and relevance, a topic on which the efforts of the academy were concentrated due to the economic importance and the topics covered vary from the cultivation of wheat to that of vines, the production and conservation of wine, oil and cheeses, paper production, silk mulberry trees and beekeeping.   3 volumes, 4to (273 x 200mm). Vignettes depicting medals on titles, 35 engraved plates some of which folding (according to OPAC, the first volume might be missing two initial leaves but it appears complete according to the pagination, occasional light spotting and light stain, third volume with light dampstaining in the lower margin, a plate detached). Contemporary vellum, title on spine label, red speckled edges (spine label missing in vol. 1). (3)
