The woodcuts are based on Hans Holbein's drawings and were already made for the 1576 edition by Georg Scharffenberg (ca.1530-1607), as evidenced by the engraver's monogram present in almost all illustrations.   8vo (180 x 115mm). Woodcut vignette on title, 41 woodcut illustrations, some early handcolouring (first leaf detached, some loose gatherings, browning, a few tiny stains). Contemporary boards (rubbing and chipping). Provenance: ? 29 ottobre 1796 (contemporary illegible ownership inscription at endpaper) - Risvolf (modern ownership inscription at endpaper).
