Straordinaria opera a cui Bourgery dedicò 23 anni, illustrata dalle dettagliatissime litografie di Nicolas Henri Jacob (1782-1871) allievo di David. I primi cinque volumi trattano l'anatomia descrittiva; i volumi sei e sette coprono l'anatomia chirurgica e l'ultimo volume parla di anatomia generale e filosofica. "It represents one of the most remarkable works in the whole history of anatomy, and in any case it is the most outstanding to be published in the 19th century" (Le Minor and Sick). 16 volumi in 15 tomi, folio (415 x 305mm).
