Inspired by Osvaldo Licini’s famous letter “Ricordo di Modigliani”, this video tells the story of Amedeo Modigliani’s work through the perspective of the Marche master. Two great artists meet, in an ideal sense, more than a century later, through two masterpieces that will be featured in the Modern and Contemporary Art auction curated by Il Ponte Casa d’Aste on November 25–26, 2025. The video pays tribute to Modigliani’s “Portrait of Beatrice Hastings” (1915) and Licini’s “The Rebel Angel on a Red Background” (1950), exploring their unique qualities and retracing their Parisian experiences. Licini’s words, taken from the letter, reveal the profound impact that encountering Modigliani had on his life and art, guiding the viewer on a journey between memory and vision, and offering an intimate perspective on these two masterpieces.
