The painting, published in Officina Ferrarese, is dated by Roberto Longhi around 1480 and attributed by him to an anonymous Modenese artist defined ''di una così intelligente rustichezza paesana'' and influenced by the pictorial innovations of Ferrara in the years of Ercole de Roberti.
