DANTE - Divina Commedia del Codice Trivulziano. Ms. 1080. Gorle: Velar, 2000.   A reproduction of the Trivulziano codex 1080 written in 1337 by Francesco di Ser Nardo da Barberino and decorated by the so-called Master of the Dominican Effigies. The codex is part of the "Danti del Cento", the group of Dante manuscripts from mid-fourteenth century Florence considered authoritative within the tradition of the Comedy. The beautiful miniatures and illuminated initials mostly use primary colours and are visually striking. Attached to the main text are Dante's commentaries by Jacopo Alighieri, son of the author, and by Bosone da Gubbio. The manuscript was purchased in the 19th century by Gian Giacomo Trivulzio, a passionate art collector and Dante scholar, and has been part of the Trivulziana Library since 1935.   (368 x 262mm). Copy no. 249 of 1580. Detailed colour reproduction of the original codex. Leather binding with blindstamped decorations and gilt title within editorial gilt silk box. With the commentary volume.
