DANTE - Divina Commedia di San Bernardo. Ms. 9. Castel Guelfo: Imago, 2017.   A reproduction of codex 9 of the Library of the Episcopal Seminary of Padua made in the second half of the fourteenth century, probably in Umbria. The three initial title pages of the canticles are extraordinarily illuminated and present wonderful initials on a gilt background. The more than 100 drôlerie are delightful in the form of fantastic animals, which play among the tendrils decorations. The codex also contains sections of Dante's commentaries by Jacopo Alighieri, son of the author, and by Bosone da Gubbio. It was probably commissioned by Michelino della Stacciola and in 1720 it became part of the collection of the Seminary Library.   (376 x 256mm). Copy no. 4 of 300. Detailed colour reproduction of the original codex. Leather binding with blindstamped decorations and with gilt metal clasps. Withouth the commentary volume.
