Describing the content of the ‘museo medico-chirurgico’ of Ippolito Rondinelli, preserved in the monastery of S. Vitale, Ravenna. The frontispiece shows a plan of the museum itself. Among the razor-sharp knives, saws and pincers of terrifying aspect, there is equipment designed for comfort: a wheelchair, a cushioned stretcher, and best of all a baroque bath with hot and cold taps. Only one (incomplete) copy is recorded as having been offered for sale in recent years (RBH). Folio (286 x 197mm). Half-title, engraved vignette on title, large folding engraved plan of the museum, 72 engraved plates mainly by Giovanni Lindemain, engraved headpieces and woodcut initlas (small clean tear to fold of folding plate, some light marginal spotting, few plates browned and plate XXX with some waterstaining). Contemporary vellum, gilt spine label (some staining).
