Fine edition of Dante known as "del Nasone" (“of the Big Nose”) because of the portrait of Dante on the frontispiece. Second Sessa edition after the one published in 1564 which uses the text of the 1502 Aldine edition and incorporates for the first time both comments of Landino and Vellutello with Sansovino's corrected verses. The illustrative apparatus is from the Marcolini edition of 1544. Folio (298 x 208mm). Title with large woodcut vignette portrait of Dante, woodcut illustrations throughout, printer's device at end and in other parts of the work (title reinforced at outer margin with few ink marks, first leaves damaged at outer margin by waterstaining, some more lighter marginal waterstaining, occasional spotting, top margin occasionally lightly cropped). Modern vellum in antique style, gilt spine with leather labels (light staining). Provenance: Il Polifilo (bookseller's ticket) - few pencil annotations.
