BOUCHET Jules Frederich (1789-1854) RAOUL-ROCHETTE, Desire (1789-1854) - Maison du poëte tragique à Pompéi publiée, avec ses peintures et ses mosaïques, fidèlement reproduites. Paris: Maheau, [1828]. Scarce and beautiful work on the frescos and mosaics of the "House of the Tragic Poet" renown for the mosaic "Cave Canem" (here reproduced). The work was conceived by the curators of the Bubliothèque Royale whom, after the discovery of the ruins in 1824, asked Bouchet to realize the luxurious plates which are today the only witness of the frescos before the restorations. The present copy with its 52 plates is among the most complete appeared on the market and similarly to the ones of the National Gallery and the American Accademy in Rome has no text. Together with the work is also a collection of different plates and drawings of Pompei frescos in a uniform binding. Folio (565 x 400mm). 2 parts in one volume.
