Milan: Vincenzo Ferrario, 1825-26.   First edition in one of the early states of one of the most renowned Italian modern works: the error "questa storia" is here changed in "di questa storia" (p. 378, vol. III) but "gioia carnale" isn't yet changed in "gioia mondana" (p. 330, vol. III).   3 volumes, 8vo (192 x 125mm). Half-titles and errata (half-title and title of vol. I in facsimile, title of vol. III repaired at bottom margin with small loss, occasional foxing and light staining). Modern wrappers printed in black, blue edges, preserved in modern matching cases internally decorated in green cloth, with original endpaper tipped in and containing some early provenance. Inserted in each volume is a plate or map showing parts of Milan in which the account takes places: a folding map of Milan (ca. 1630) in vol. I, a plate with "Facciata del Regio Uffizio, e Carceri del Sig. Capitano di Giustizia" in vol. II and a plate showing the Lazzaretto in vol. III. Provenance: G.
