"Attack on Xiebulu", fifth leaf of a series of eight engravings illustrating a punitive expedition of the troops of Emperor Qianlong against Gurkha's army, during the Tibetan invasion between 1790 and 1792 China, Qianlong period (1735-1796) The battle of Xiebulu is part of the Sino-Nepalese war (1788-1792). When Nepal invaded Tibet, which was under the administrative rule of the Qing dynasty, it looked like a local conflict due to be solved easily. However, it eventually turned in a proper military action, coordinated by the Qianlong Emperor and his military officers.
