Girard Perregaux, Minute Repeater and Perpetual Calendar Ref. 9960 white gold wristwatch Year 1998 Manual-wind movement Blue dial with number, complete calendar and moon phases Case n. 4 Cal. 9896 Diam. mm 38 box only Likely the only piece ever to appear on the market in this configuration, this extremely rare reference was likely only produced in 20 pieces in three materials: yellow, rose, and white gold, one of which was set with diamonds. At the time, it was offered to collectors at a price of 230 million lire for the first two versions and 236 million for the white gold version, as is the case with the model presented here. The reference 9960.51 represents one of the pinnacle of haute horlogerie from the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture, produced in very limited numbers during the 1990s. The watch, housed in a classic white gold tonneau case, combines two of the most challenging complications to create: a perpetual calendar and a crystal-clear minute repeater. The dial is a paragon of aesthetic balance, with subdials arranged in an inverted "V" indicating the date, day, month, and leap year, leaving room for the moon phases at 6 o'clock. The distinctive feature of this model lies in the hand-wound caliber, finely finished by the maison's master watchmakers and visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This detail testifies to the technical mastery of an era when GP (Girard-Perregaux) rivaled the absolute pinnacle of the industry. It is a "final collector's" piece, intended for those who appreciate mechanical complexity concealed beneath a veneer of absolute understatement.
