A chromatic riot of precious gems, enhanced by the most refined jewelry brands, shines in the Important Jewels auction held on the 1st and 2nd of December 2022 at Il Ponte Casa d’Aste.


An authentic triumph of colors are the fancy diamonds adorning the auction. The greatest highlights portrayed by an orangy pink ct. 2.30 diamond embellishing a magnificent 1960’s Bulgari brooch (lot 543, estimate € 300,000 - 350,000), an intense yellow ct. 8.73 diamond white gold ring (lot 535, estimate € 48,000 - 58,000) and a fancy vivid yellow ct. 1.96 diamond (lot 529, estimate € 15,000 - 25,000).

These are the stars of the auction sale, together with a ct. 6,764 Kashmir sapphire (lot 539, estimate € 90,000 - 140,000), two emeralds of rare origin - a ct. 4,377 Colombian signed Cartier London (lot 525, estimate € 25,000 - 35,000) and a ct. 6.50 Afghan (lot 533, estimate € 22,000 - 28,000) - as well as a ct. 4.37 Burmese ruby ​​(lot 524, estimate € 18,000 - 25,000).






Lot 543
Bulgari Diamond and fancy diamond three leaf shaped platinum brooch,
in the center three pear shaped diamonds: a ct. 2.30 fancy orangy pink diamond, a tinted diamond of ct. 2.19
and an almost colourless one of ct. 1.93, diamond pavé jagged petals, g 19.29 circa, length cm 4.70 circa. Signed BULGARI.

Among the greatest expressions in the field of historical jewelry is the beautiful Art Nouveau ring setting holding a ct. 9.15 navette diamond (lot 538, estimate € 58,000 - 75,000). This piece introduces the chapter dedicated to large carat diamonds: a ribbon shaped brooch with round and tapered diamonds for a total of ct. 29.00 circa (lot 520, estimate € 22,000 - 28,000), a cushion ct. 6.04 diamond ring signed Villa (lot 534, estimate € 40,000 - 55,000), a pendant brooch with seventeen diamonds for a total of ct. 25.50 (lot 537, estimate € 55,000 - 65,000), and extremely elegant diamond necklace of ct. 45.50 circa (lot 542, estimate € 55,000 - 65,000) followed by many other diamonds which, even though displaying smaller carat sizes, are by no means less significant.

Ancient traditions and innovative techniques are widely exemplified in over thirty major jewelry brands. From Italian goldsmiths emerge the peculiar collection of Frascarolo inspired by African fauna, the refined colored pavè by Palmiero, the very original design signed by Pomellato, Buccellati, Bulgari, Vhernier, Gucci and Micheletto to then arrive at Pederzani, exhibiting their revolutionary “invisible set” sapphire pendant earrings (lot 550, estimate € 10,000 - 15,000) introduced in the 1930s by jewelers Salomon Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef.

It is precisely the French maison Van Cleef & Arpels that opens the section dedicated to master goldsmiths of the Parisian school with the beautiful diamond flower shaped "Cosmos" earrings with diamonds for a total of ct. 4.60 circa (lot 518, estimate € 12,000 - 18,000). Following is Cartier with a rare 1890’s old diamond bow shaped brooch (lot 485, estimate € 8,000 - 12,000), René Boivin with a yellow gold "Sablier" necklace (lot 501, estimate € 22,000 - 28,000) and Boucheron with an elegant jewelry set.
