Sino-Tibet, beginning of 20th century (11x22 cm) (defects)   Depicted erect on an eight-armed lotus pedestal with the central hands clasped in prayer (mudra of devotion and compassion), in the hand he holds a mala (Buddhist rosary) and in the other a lotus flower, symbol of purity, the seven heads represent all-seeing and the ability to look in all directions to help beings. On the back carved with bats in clouds framing the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" the greeting to the Jewel in the Lotus, the universal mantra of compassion.
